Link Into The Professions

The “Link into the Professions” is one of The Weir Link’s ways of using its network of volunteers and contacts to work for its local community.

The idea is simple:

  • We are already in contact with many people in a range of professional jobs, all across London (and beyond).

  • We know that unless you are lucky enough to be born into a family with friends and friends of friends in a particular jobs, it can be difficult to find out more about whether you would actually like to do that job, and how you can get there.

  • We therefore aim to provide the ‘Link’ and allow everybody from our diverse and multi-talented local community to get a “leg up” by putting you in touch with people on our network of professionals, who are happy to give up some of their time to share their experiences, and give you an insight into their profession.

The “Link” is intended to be led entirely by those who have been put in touch with one another.  Being put in touch could lead to a phone conversation, a coffee and one-to-one conversation, feedback or suggestions on an application, or even a work placement.

Our aim is to build aspirations, expand horizons, and facilitate access to the professions for The Weir Link’s diverse local community.
